Saturday, May 31st - She Wants Revenge with Be Your Own Pet, The Virgins, and Switches

Think Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Interpol, Bauhaus and you've got yourself She Wants Revenge. Goth-punk with dance and math rock makes for a fun time. They're retro revivalists with dark, melodic vocals over pulsing electronic percussion and synth. The best way to describe them would be "Stark darkness seething with the maddening frustration of reluctant love, regret, and obsession- all in handy danceable format." - IGN.com You may know them from their hit single "Tear You Apart," which you can listen to below. Their most recent full -length album, This is Forever, is a challenging and compelling album that they are proud to present to their loyal fans and the uninitiated alike.

Now with a new EP under their belt entitle Save Your Soul, the boys of She Wants Revenge are touring again-ready to start industrial dance parties across the U.S. As part of Nylon Magazine's Summer Music Tour, Be Your Own Pet, Switches, and the Virgins will all be opening for She Wants Revenge. It's a great line up with a lot of talent.

Sunday, June 1st - Ingrid Michaelson with Greg Laswell and George Stanford

With a voice that's somewhere between Joni Mitchell and Nico, Ingrid Michaelson carries the tradition of the female singer/songwriter into the 21st century. Befitting a musician of the digital age, Michaelson first gained wide exposure through spots on TV soundtracks. Born and raised on New York's Staten Island to an artist mother and classical composer father, Michaelson began exploring music through piano lessons at the age of four. After college, she toured with a national theater troupe and spent her free time writing songs, later compiling them for her debut album, Girls and Boys, which was released on Michaelson's label, Cabin 24 Records, in January 2007. Three months later, she won a national songwriting contest. Four songs from her debut were also featured prominently in the prime time television drama Grey's Anatomy and commercials for clothing company Old Navy.

Girls and Boys has been a hit with fans and critics alike. Aside from her flawless voice and indie vibe with jazz roots, Michaleson has well structured tracks, riding the new wave of female singer/songwriters. Although she can easily be associated with the likes of Regina Spektor and Jenny Owen Youngs, Michaelson's record gives a refreshing new outlook on men and life. The Washington Post says, "Given the purely sonic pleasures on these tracks and others, it's easy to overlook those moments when Michaelson's confessional themes are no match for the sound of her flitting soprano and her winning ways on keyboards and guitar." Don't miss the next big thing, Ingrid Michaelson, at the TLA this Sunday, June 1st.

Thursday, May 22nd - X with Detroit Cobras

LA punk-rockers, X, bring their amazing live act to the TLA on Thursday, May 22nd as part of their 31st anniversary tour entitled "13x31". Since hitting the music scene back in 1977, X have been a critical success. In the words of Rolling Stone reporter Chris Morris, X was "the city's most respected and written-about punk band." Their 1978 single "Adult Books"/"We're Desperate" helped fuel their underground success. Though X was arguably the most important band to emerge from the Los Angeles punk scene, its members started a long way from easy punk credibility. Too self-conscious, artsy and ambitious to simply spew, Baltimore native John Doe (bass/vocals) and Floridian Exene Cervenka (vocals) had to package their bohemian lifestyle as new wave, delivering desperate meditations on sex and society at high velocity, happy to ride the coattails of more instinctual performers.

Their sound combines punk with rockabilly blues and country, making them one of the most influential rock bands of our time. According to AllMusicGuide, X are "undeniably not just one of the greatest punk bands, but one of the greatest live rock acts of all time." Thursday night at the TLA, X with Detroit Cobras might possibly be one of the punk shows you'll see all year. Its a show not to be missed!

Friday, May 23rd - Augustana with Wild Sweet Orange and David Ford

Up and coming Alt-rockers, Augustana, return to Philadelphia this Friday, May 23rd to the TLA. This California based band reached mass success with the inescapable hit single “Boston” last year and have not slowed down one bit. Armed with a brand new album, Augustana are back to deliver there piano driven rock anthems that have made them famous.

The band is touring in support of their newest release, Can’t Love Can’t Hurt, which further expands on the song writing of Augustana from two dimensional pop songs to introspective ballads and rock anthems. Any critics that have doubted these guys’ lasting power have surely been proven wrong. Absolutepunk.net had this to say about Augustana’s new release. “Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt is a more pop oriented album with a hint of twang prevailing throughout, and is a more well rounded album and has more staying power than their debut. While the band had the added pressure of living up to the hype generated by a hit single as well as dealing with the dreaded sophomore slump, they easily trumped these potential roadblocks.”

Make sure not to miss San Diego rock stars, Augustana, when they hit the stage at the TLA this Friday, May 23rd with Wild Sweet Orange and David Ford. It is bound to be an unforgettable show.

It has been about six years since Filter has released an album and the band as well as front man Richard Patrick has been through a lot of changes (including a few side projects and a Filter hiatus). Finally though, Filter is back with a brand new album and they are taking Philadelphia by storm Tuesday, May 27th and taking their post grunge/industrial rock sounds to the stage at the TLA.

Saturday, May 17th - XPN Welcomes DeVotchKa with Basia Bulat

DeVotchKa is a four piece multi-instrumental and vocal ensemble that fuses Romani, Greek, Slavic, Bolero, and Mariachi music with American punk and folk roots. Pretty interesting huh? Pretty great too. Last year, Rolling Stone called DeVotchKa "The Best Little Grammy-Nominated Band You've Never Heard Of" If you've seen Little Miss Sunshine, then you've heard DeVotchKa. The band has 10 of the 14 tracks on the soundtrack. Rolling Stone describes DeVotchKa's music as "Lovely, immaculately crafted stuff that draws on Urata’s big, beautiful croon and the band’s delicate instrumental touches." And their live shows? Well they've been described as transcendent, energetic and organic, emotional and original. They're a band that commands attention with their breathtaking music.

NPR says, "DeVotchKa's sad and lovely sound is a surprisingly potent potpourri of cabaret, spaghetti Western, and Eastern European Gypsy songs. From Russia to South American to Mexico and back again, DeVotchKa enhances its heady sonic cocktail with instruments not usually heard on the indie-rock circuit: a melancholy accordion, earthy guitars, and the soothing but sorrowful oomph of a tuba, all playing melodies fit to score tragic romantic fantasies" DeVotchKa will be at the TLA on Saturday, May 17th to amaze you along with Basia Bulat .

Sunday, May 18th - Bandemonium feat. Menudo with NLT, V-Factory, and Mark & James

The 1970's pop group Menudo is famous for launching the career of the wildly successful Ricky Martin, now they're back with a new generation. Menudo revolutionized pop music, spawning the beginnings of bands like New Edition and New Kids on the Block. The new Menudo's lineup came from the hit reality show on MTV, "Making Menudo," where 15 young Latinos were chosen through a nationwide search and put through "boy band boot camp." Emerging victorious from the competition were the ultra-talented Carlos, Jose, Monti, Emmanuel and Chris. These boys will be melting girls hearts and making hips shake at the TLA on Sunday, May 18th.

Johnny Wright, acclaimed manager of *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, the Jonas Brothers, Britney Spears and many others, has established a new touring brand called “Bandemonium” that will launch its first tour on May 1st in Las Vegas. Though each reinvention of the “Bandemonium” tour will feature different types of bands, this first 16-date tour will include performances from four of pop music’s latest boybands: Menudo, NLT, and V-Factory. “Pop music comes in waves”, says Wright. “With this tour, fans will see the new generation of pop band in the tradition of *NSYNC, Backstreet, and New Kids, all on one stage.” And he would be the one to know. Johnny Wright began his career with hit dance group Snap! and quickly moved on to a stint with New Kids on the Block, introducing him to the genre that would solidly land him in pop music history as the manager who guided *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys to the pinnacle of their careers. “Pop music fans are ready for these groups; they’ve been waiting for a tour like this, that brings four great vocal and dance groups together on the same stage”, says Wright. “For the first time you have four bands telling fans that its OK to be a fan of all of them – that they’re fans of each other – because they’re all unique and special in their own way.”

Friday, May 9th - Arch Enemy with Dark Tranquility, Divine Heresy, and Firewind

So what exactly is Arch Enemy? A Swedish melodic death band, that's what! These guys aren't newbies to the death metal scene. In fact, they're veterans with seven studio albums, a live album, 3 EP's, and a dvd! Their 1998 release, Stigmata, has been considered one of the best albums on the death metal scene by some critics. Now their latest album, Rise of the Tyrant, showcases all that is great about death metal with it being "jam packed with more lead lines, shred solos, and melodic parts than any of their albums." This album is brutal but in the best way possible.

Arch Enemy are metal titans whose dynamic mixture of melody and aggression has earned them massive critical acclaim, a rabid worldwide fanbase and a slot on past Ozzfests. They're starting their own headlining tour entitled, Tyranny and Bloodshred 2008, with Philadelphia at our Fillmore @ the TLA on Friday May 9th. Saturday, May 10th - Flyleaf with Kairos and Shovelhook

SHOW MOVED FROM ELECTRIC FACTORY - ALL TICKETS HONORED!

Out of the small, quiet town of Temple, Texas emerges a rock band that is about to take the world by storm. Fronted by Lacey Mosley, Flyleaf is comprised of members James Culpepper on drums, Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann on guitar, and Pat Seals rounding out their sound on bass. Not just your average angry rockers, this fresh and innovative group cites influences such as Rage Against the Machine, Incubus, Nirvana and Foo Fighters. Flyleaf is a hybrid of both the music of their influences and a sound crafted by their own personal passions.

Flyleaf's music is probably best described by Lacey herself. "Our music is passionate and on purpose. Its angry and sad and urgent and loving. Its about our experiences and passions and how we have overcome. Our message is to encourage the hopeless people to have hope, and the apathetic people to stand up in their destinies and purposes and believe in something good and world changing." Flyleaf's music is filled with pathos and optimism all in one breath. When watching this band perform, its hard to see how one could not be inspired.

Since forming the band, they have played every major city in Texas and have headlined for thousands of fans in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and of course, their hometown of Temple. They've also opened for national acts such as Evanescence, Bowling For Soup, Riddlin Kids, and Flickerstick.

Friday, May 2nd - A Very Special Solo Performance by Bryan Adams

BRYAN ADAMS - SHOW IS SOLD OUT!!

Bryan Adams acheived popularity in the 1980's as a 'working class rock-and-roller' in the Bruce Springsteen mold. His popularity has waned considerably from the 90's onward, but the tenacious little bugger keeps going anyway. At the end of the 1990's, he branched out into a second career as a celebrity photographer.

Now Bryan Adams [ tickets ] has booked a string of intimate, solo-acoustic shows across the US to promote his new album, "11." One of those special stops being the Fillmore @ the TLA in Philadelphia. The singer/songwriter's new album, "11," has already shot to No. 1 in Canada and will be released May 13 in the US exclusively at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores. Appropriately enough, "11" is Adams' 11th album of original music and it features 11 songs that he recorded in hotel rooms and backstage areas of concert venues across Europe over the last two years. A couple of songs from the record are streaming at his MySpace page.

Adams' previous studio album, "Room Service," was released in the US in 2005 and marked his first set of new music in almost seven years, with the exception of the 2002 film soundtrack for "Spirit," which Adams composed and performed in English and French. A single from the soundtrack, "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You," scored a Grammy for Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture. Meanwhile, Adams continues to make a name for himself in the photography world, exhibiting his work all over the globe. The Canadian Music Hall of Famer recently shot the 2008 ad campaign for Guess, all the proceeds from which will be donated to his namesake charitable foundation, according to a statement.
